Great weekend for Team Gigamike. We finished 3rd place at #breakthefake Manila Hackathon 2019. I’ll be sharing my slides and video demo but first, I like to congratulate the event organizer of #breakthefake Manila headed by Gabriel Billones Jr., speakers, mentors, panels, volunteers, and sponsors. #breakthefake is a pre-hack hackathon that tries to solve fake news. It was held at American Corner Manila – De La Salle University Libraries, De La Salle University Library last Aug 17, 2019, Saturday.

ok, let’s start with our presentation. I team up with Amah Galon (Entrepreneur/Business Plan), Tom Chua (Mobile Dev) and Me (Team Lead/Full Stack Dev/AlexaSkills Dev). Our idea is #breakthefake Council, is an online platform that connects writers/bloggers/authors and readers/consumers together. It is created to provide reliable and trustworthy news and information resource globally.

The idea is you get a badge from us which educates readers on how to spot fake news, article score (domain score, grammar error, spelling error and use of exclamation points) and feedbacks and sentiment from other readers. Now, why a blogger/author gets a badge from us? We will recognize them by listing them down on our yellow pages, issue a digital certificate and list their articles/blogs in our cross-platform portal and API ready. Below is our slides.

You can visit our live demo at https://breakthefake2019.gigamike.net/ and sample badge at https://blog.gigamike.net/2019/08/09/julia-montes-breaks-social-media-hiatus-pays-tribute-to-abs-cbn/

Below is our video Demo. Demo 1 (slide 4) how to get a badge.

Demo 2 (slide 8) Yellow Pages and Digital Certificate. Recognition!

Demo 3 (slide 9) Web and Mobile Portal Demo.

Demo 4 (slide 10) Portal API and sample usage. In this demo, we show how the API was used thru Alexa Skills and at the same time we want to show that news medium evolves, from a newspaper, web-based, mobile app and now on your smart appliances. If news evolves, fake news adopts and we must be ready in a fake news free mediums/devices.

Congratulations to the winners and to all participants who joined in the said event. All participants received #breakthefake T-shirts and certificates. First place winner will represent Manila and will compete to Break the Fake Grand Hackathon 2019.

Good luck and see you in the next hackathons.
